Author Interview: Roze Wallin

February 5, 2016

Hello lovelies,

Today we have a special treat, meeting with Roze Wallin, who is preparing to release her debut novel, Desi Pere. Roze Wallin is a takes-no-prisoners Renasance woman, an eccentrically free-spirited maverick, and all around goofball extraordinaire. With an intense passion for life and learning, she has a knack for delving into unique areas of interest.

Music is her true lifeblood, while books fuel her edacious imagination, providing her with the perfect escape and adventure. Her bubbly personality makes it difficult for her to sit still, giving her plenty of energy to dance, run, and sometimes even fly.

When she's not exploring something or somewhere new, she can be found indulging in one of her many hobbies. She loves creating new things, spending most of her time on various art projects, cooking, writing, working on classic VWs, or daydreaming.

Roze's greatest joys come from laughing with her family, snuggling with her pets, walking in nature, and driving anywhere she can. While she currently lives in New Mexico with her best friend and hubby of nearly a decade, they are nomads at heart, and can't wait to experience new places soon. As Spiritual Christians, they both love exploring God's world, and cherish any time they're able to travel. Animals are a necessity in their life, and although they currently have four dogs, a cat, a family of bunnies, an iguana and a turtle, they fully plan to add more furry and scaly critters to their home soon.

Without further ado, let's get on to the interview!

 How are you?

I’m great, thank you! I’m excited to be on your blog today! I hope you and your readers are doing well. =)

It's Friday, how could we not be doing well! We are excited to have you.

 What inspired this book?

I originally started writing this as a NaNoWriMo project for the 2014 competition. I started the second week of November, with no outline in mind, only a sentence. That sentence is now completely lost and obsolete, as the story has taken so many turns and changes since then.

I didn’t get it finished in time for the competition, no surprise there. I kept writing on it though, deciding it was the perfect project to force me into finishing a book. I have over 30 outlines and ideas waiting for me, but I haven’t been able to find the courage needed to finish any of those yet - they’re too close to me still. This book, and now series, offered the perfect opportunity for me to write on something new, and something that I can learn from without it hurting too much if people say “hey, you know, don’t quit your day job.” Hopefully that won’t be the case, and I’m so curious to see what people think of this story! It’s been a blast to write.

Roze, the joy of creaters, having to maintain the day job while following our passions. I hope your release is a huge success. I know I am excited to read Desi Pere!

What is one great lesson you have learned as a writer?

Obviously as a debut author and newbie to publishing, I don’t have a ton of lessons under my belt yet. What I have learned so far though, is to just keep having fun, and to not take myself too seriously.

That is great advice. When it no longer becomes fun for you, it shows in the writing. Glad you are having fun, and hope you get to have fun for many decades to come!

What is your next project?

I’m working on the sequel, Sospi Tare, and hope to have that out as soon as possible. I’m also working on a few of the other novels and series I’d started and lost the nerve to finish. It’s been a wonderful journey so far, I’m excited to keep writing!

We are excited to see what comes next. Keep us in mind for future releases.

What one person from history would you like to meet and why?

Oh gosh, there are so many people I’d love to meet! One person in the top 5 of my list though, is Anne Frank. To me, she embodies strength and faith, and I am sure she would be an incredible person to encounter.

Oh, she would be a good one! I have always felt a special connection for her, ever since I did a production of the Diary of Anne Frank in middle school. I think she would be a joy to meet.

Roze's debut novel, Desi Pere, is the first book in her Swirling Secrets trilogy. She enjoys connecting with interesting new people - please feel free to learn more about her on her Website, sign up for her Newsletter, and catch her on social media!

Synopsis of Desi Pere:

Magnhild, is a freak. From her name, right down to the naturally bizarre visage she can't seem to get rid of- she's an odd duck.

Her life has taken a swirling plunge into the drain the past few months, but it's nothing compared to what's coming. All she wants is to finish school, and start over somewhere fun. Fate, has other plans.

Enter the Desi Pere underground organization, and three of it's loyal members: They've enlisted Magnhild's cooperation, whether she likes it or not. They mean to exploit her superhuman gifts, ones she didn't think anyone knew about. Overnight, she's dragged into a world, and a war, the normal world doesn't even know exist. The bait: reuniting her with her mother, who's supposed to be dead.

Danger, confusion, deception, and self-loathing fog each decision Magnhild faces. She desperately hopes to find her mother, and bring meaning to her past of abuse and isolation.

Will she see through the web society has spun around her, or fall captive to century-old lies? In her search for the truth, she discovers she cannot find what she seeks, without first becoming herself, accepting her inner strength, and embracing her bizarre life...
