Welcome to another Meet the Author Monday! I am so excited to introduce you to J. S. Strange, who is an author from South Wales. He is 21 years-old and is about to release his debut novel, 'Winter Smith: London's Burning', a zombie apocalypse novel based in London. We all know how much I LOVE zombies, so I am super excited to be reviewing this book in the near future! Let's get this party started!
Welcome to an Angell's Life, J.S. We are happy to have you here today.
What is the current book you are promoting?
I'm currently promoting my debut novel, 'Winter Smith: London's Burning'. I have been writing the series since I was 17, and now finally, at the age of 21, the first in the series is about to be published. I'm very excited for it to be published, as I think it is a very good story and I think a lot of people will enjoy it. It's a zombie apocalypse story, all about survival and trust. Winter, the main character, has to escape her hometown of Watford and get to the Thames, where evacuation boats are leaving. But as she travels, meeting survivors along the way, she learns that not everything is as it seems.
I gotta tell you, I love a good Zombie book that explores the human interactions. I am very excited to read Winter Smith: London's Burning!
Who is your favorite character in London's Burning, and why?
I love them all, as they all contribute and have their own stories to tell. Violet Black, however, is probably my favourite character to write because she is so complex. She comes from a bad background, is forced to turn to prostitution to feed herself and her family, and is very broken and hurt, but covers it all up. She's a great character. You either love her or hate her.
I can't wait to decide where I stand on Violet!
If your book were made into a movie, who would you cast?
I would love somebody like Jacqueline Jossa or Diana Vickers to play Winter. For Violet, Daisy Ridley might be a good choice. I have Winter's parents in my head. There are lots to choose from. They would have to be British actors though.
I love Daisy Ridley, I am thinking I am really going to end up on Team Violet!
What is your next project?
I'm currently writing the second instalment of Winter Smith. It's the follow up to the first, and follows them when they get to their 'safety'. I've had major writer's block with this project, but now finally I've got something on paper. I've got re-drafts and re-writing to do in the next few months.
What is one great lesson you have learned as a writer?
Just keep writing, ignore the doubt and always proof read!
Those are some great lessons. Thank you so much for joining us J.S. , and I hope we will get to see you again when the next book comes out!
Would you like to know more about J.S? Check out his website. You can follow him on Facebook or Twitter @JackSamStrange to keep tabs on events. J.S. will be joining us again on Release day with a character spotlight and I can't wait!
A little about the book:
Winter, a socialite with a rich lifestyle, is forced to escape her hometown of Watford and get to the Thames, where evacuation boats are leaving. However, as she travels with a group of survivors she learns that not everyone is to be trusted, and not all is as it seems.
As I said, I will be reviewing this book shortly, and I am really excited to read it. London's Burning releases April 18th, but you can pre-order it today! I am tempted to start the book today, (I got an Advanced Reader Copy because I am super awesome... lol, not really, because I begged!) but if anyone wants to do a read along, I suppose I could wait for you to get the copy when it releases. Let me know in the comments below!
Until next time,
