Today, we get to meet Prince Klaus from author Chantal Gadoury's latest novel Allerleiraugh. Chantal Gadoury is a young author who is originally from Muncy, PA. Chantal enjoys painting in her spare time, drinking a good cup of coffee when she can, and watching her favorite Disney classics with loved ones. When she’s not busy crafting or reading, Chantal is dedicated to her family at home: her mom, sister and a furry-puppy-brother (and her Dad, who now lives in heaven.) As a 2011 college graduate from Susquehanna University, with a degree in Creative Writing, writing novels has become a dream come true!
Prince Klaus is one of the main characters in Chantal's newest published novel, “Allerleirauh” which is a retelling of the unfamiliar Grimm Brother’s Fairy Tale.
Prince Klaus is the Prince of Saarland der Licht, a neighboring Kingdom next to Tränen, where Aurelia is from. He finds Aurelia after she escapes the clutches of her father and takes her into his home, where they befriend each other. As for the rest, I’ll leave you to read the novel yourself! Now without further ado, an interview with Prince Klaus!
What is your idea of perfect happiness? Finding peace between all the Kingdoms, neighboring Saarland der Licht. Having a family with Aurelia, and watching the light in her eyes return more and more. To be surrounded by my love, my family and my people.
What is your greatest fear? Losing everyone that I love, I’m sure is almost everyone’s fear. To die alone. To fail at my duty as a Prince – a Future King. I hate to disappoint those around me (except for Lord Crestwood, of course.)
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself? My stubbornness. It can get me in quite a bit of trouble. Ignoring those around me in suggestions and advice, and doing what I feel is right – even if it is wrong.
What is the trait you most deplore in others? Liars. I cannot stand a liar. And this might come to be a surprise because of Aurelia’s own lies. It is one thing to lie and hide away in fear, of something that is much bigger than I could understand. But it is quite another to lie about intentions towards me or my Kingdom. I do not keep false friends or courtiers around me.
What do you consider the most overrated virtue? Would you be surprised if I admitted “temperance?” To hold one back from something they wish to have; to have someone deny what makes them happy. Too many people do that in their daily lives and causes such unhappiness. We should be able to do what pleases us (within reason, naturally) and make decisions based on what our hearts wish – not with restraint in our minds. If I had not denied Temperance, I would not have allowed myself to love Aurelia, to choose her.
Which living person do you most despise? Aurelia’s Father and Lord Haven. I won’t say much more about that.
What is the quality you most like in a woman? A kind and true heart. Brave and strong and of course, graced with compassion.
What or who is the greatest love of your life? I never knew what love was until I met Aurelia. I think I knew I loved her the moment I found her, and looked into her beautiful eyes. I knew I wanted to know who she was, and I wanted to protect her. Aurelia is the greatest love in my life; my only.
Which talent would you most like to have? I wish I could do something more artistic, like paint or play an instrument. I think that would be a bit fulfilling; to do something with my hands.
What is your most treasured possession? A ring of my mother’s.
What do you most value in your friends? Honesty, integrity, loyalty and honor.
What is it that you most dislike? Don’t tell Mrs. Benson, but I do so dislike some of the different tea concoctions she creates. I also dislike Lord Crestwood’s inability to take the answer of “No.”
What is your greatest regret? I have no regrets – how can I?
How would you like to die? Old, and wrapped in the arms of my love and surrounded by our children.
Wow, talk about a swoon-worthy prince! Much more fleshed out than any of Disney's fine princes!
If you love good fairy tales, then grab a copy of Allerleirauh today and give it a go!
