Poetry Corner: Hurt

December 9, 2016

Sometimes I lie awake,

unable to sleep.

I think of hurt times

and begin to weep.

Can you remember the time

when love was ours to keep?

There were less times of love,

than when I felt cheap.

I'd sit for days lonely,

wondering if you'd call.

I knew I needed new love,

for ours was about to fall.

Now I've found a new love,

someone to take your place.

It's your fault, you broke our love.

The guilt is on your face.

Now, when you lie awake lonely,

think of the love you miss.

Think of how it could be,

as it's him, not you, I kiss.

Until next time,
