Meet the Author Monday with Merri Halma

September 19, 2016

Hello Lovelies,

I have a treat for you! Today we are meeting with mid-grade and YA author Merri Halma. Merri is quite the enigmatic character, preferring to let her books do all the shining. She is the author of Indigo Traveler, and Keys to the Shadowlands, Book two in the Indigo Traveler Series. Without further ado, let's meet Merri!

Hello Merri, Welcome to An Angell's Life. What is the current book you are promoting?

My currant book is Keys to the Shadowlands Book Two of the Indigo Traveler Series. I am promoting it with the first book, Indigo Traveler Book 1.

Who is your favorite character in your book and why?

It is difficult to choose a favorite character. Though, I would have to say Lynx, the werecat, is my favorite one because he is off the wall and can be quite abrupt. In the first book, he wishes he had thumbs and in the second book, he has thumbs and can now transport himself.

How fun! I totally understand the trouble of picking a favorite character. It's like a mother being asked who their favorite child is!

What inspired this book?

I was talking about the plot of the first book and the second one, when I realized the antagonist, King Titus was depressed and remorseful. I wanted to explore what would happen if he fell into a catatonic state which is a land of illusion.

What is your next project?

My next project is the third book in the Indigo Traveler Series. The working title is Many Paths to Follow. I will also be finishing a rewrite on a short story I wrote in 1993 and submitting it to a contest in my local Treasure Valley area in Idaho.

What is one place you would like to visit and why?

London. I have always felt a connection to London and England. I would love to visit that city and explore it all. I also want to visit Cardiff where I would be able to visit the set of Doctor Who and the Doctor Who museum.

ACH!!!! Another Whovian! I knew there was something I liked about you! Who is your favorite fictional character and why?

The Doctor. I love the fact that he can travel in time and space, and go backward or forward in time as well as visit different worlds.

And one would expect no less of an answer from a fellow Whovian! Well, thank you for joining us today! It was a delight.
